As for the lyrics of this song, I think they are great. Rather than intoxication as referring to alcohol, it refers to a woman. Very well written.

You are correct  it has nothing to do with drugs or alcohol whatsoever. I guess it shows that he could be intoxicated by another person. |

Intoxication is addiction according to this song: it reserves it's rights.
It states right at the top verse "You're mine". Not talking about a woman.
It is like, you know the song "House of the Rising Sun"?
"You can come in, but you may never leave?"
The words "You're mine" is in the first person. That which will make you addicted.
You is the second person, the person who has chosen his addiction.
